MethodologyThis is an In-Vitro Diagnostic Qualitative Assay. The detection of COVID SARS-COV-2 RNA test is based on Nucleic Acid Amplification by Real-Time PCR. Sars CoV-2 is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus which is thought to be of zoonotic origin. The primers and probe target the RdRp gene, a 338 bp flanking region present within Orf1ab region, however there is no cross reactivity of this region with other human -pathogenic coronaviruses and respiratory pathogens sequenced thus far. The kit is designed to have a broad detection profile. Specifically, the primers represent 100% homology with over 95% of the NCBI database reference sequences (NC_045512.2) available at the time of design
