Molecular Diagnostics
RMI Molecular Diagnostics, ISO:15189-accredited, operates under the Pathology Laboratory and offers a variety of tests encompassing infectious diseases, oncology, and rare genetic disorders, which are soon to start in the coming future. We offer and claim that our testing has the shortest Turn Around Time from sample collection to final reportable test within 24 hours which in this region of KPK no one is offering such TAT.
It is equipped with modern technology, accompanied by automation and innovation, and has the capacity to run and process a bulk of samples in a matter of a few hours with a definite diagnosis of the patient and a correct treatment guide for the clinician with confidence.
Molecular Diagnostic services include;
- Genetic Testing for Inherited Disorders
- Cancer Genetic Profiling
- Infectious Disease Molecular Diagnostics
- Pharmacogenomic Testing
- Molecular Markers for Prognosis and Treatment Response
Molecular diagnostics is referred to as the detection of nucleic acids in a biological sample also referred as Nucleic Acid Amplification Testing (NAAT), aiming to facilitate detection, diagnosis, sub classification, prognosis, and monitoring response to therapy. Molecular diagnostics is the outcome of the fruitful interplay among laboratory medicine, genomics knowledge, and technology in the field of molecular genetics, especially with significant discoveries in the field of molecular genomic technologies.
Molecular diagnostics are increasingly used to guide patient management, from diagnosis to treatment, particularly in the fields of cancer, infectious disease, and congenital abnormalities. The increased demand for genetic and genomic information has led to the rapid expansion of molecular techniques within clinical laboratories.
Molecular diagnostics, such as multiplex real-time PCR, have replaced cell culture, fluorescent antigen-antibody detection, and antigen detection methodologies because PCR has the high sensitivity and specificity index of ≥95%, with excellent quality control procedures, and detect a large battery of viral and bacterial pathogens rapidly in a single sample. The use of molecular diagnostics has significantly improved the yield of detection.
